Project Overview: Ledring

Ledring is an innovative, circular circuit board specifically designed for creating interactive games with Arduino. Featuring 19 strategically placed LEDs (18 red and 1 green), it provides a physical interface for building gaming consoles based on light and timing.

Games

Ledcatching

There are 19 leds, 18 of them are red and 1 of them is green. Specially designed for the game called Ledcatching. This game start with the leds turning quickly in order. When the leds turn rapidly, if the green led lights up, you can win the game by pressing the button. It will be a great deal to code it with arduino.

Ledoverlap

There is another game designed by Circle Electronic. The name of this second game is Ledoverlap. Ledoverlap is a game that starts with the leds flashing clockwise. When the last one of the leds is on, if you press the button and continue it for 18 leds, you win the game. Each time the last led is on, the cycle speed of the less will increase.

Gaming Mechanics

The Ledring board is designed for two primary games created by Circle Electronic:

• Ledcatching: 18 red LEDs and 1 green LED rotate rapidly. The objective is to press the button exactly when the green LED is lit. This tests the player's timing and reaction speed.
• Ledoverlap: LEDs flash in a clockwise cycle. The goal is to press the button just as the last LED lights up, repeating this for 18 consecutive cycles. Each success increases the rotation speed, adding difficulty.

Design and Power

Ledring is part of the NOOB Series, aiming to make Arduino coding accessible to beginners.

• Standalone Portability: The board includes dual CR2032 Coin Cell Battery slots, meaning it doesn't need a bulky external power supply for several hours of gameplay.
• Plug-and-Play: The board comes fully assembled and is compatible with an Arduino Nano R3. Users simply plug their programmed Nano into the header to start playing.

Ledring does not need an external power supply to work. It has 2x Coin Cell Battery CR2032 slots on it. Arduino gets the power from here.

Battery supports only ledcatching game and batteries comes with ledring when you buy ledring. If you want, you can also power Arduino with a cable.

Ledring comes fully assembled. Arduino Nano does not come when you buy Ledring.

Creative Customization

While the board comes with two pre-designed games, its open-source design encourages users to develop their own:

1. Clock Mode: Use the 12 LEDs to create a binary or analog-style clock.
2. Fortune Teller: Create a "Wheel of Fortune" where the light spins and lands on a random LED.
3. Visual Metronome: Build a rhythmic visual aid for musicians.
