Retro Arcade Gaming
This project recreates the excitement of classic cinematic space battles on a high-contrast digital display.
- Object-Oriented Collision Engine: The Arduino manages arrays representing "X-Wings" (player) and "TIE Fighters" (enemies). It calculates the 2D bounding-box collision between laser pulses and enemy sprites at 30 FPS.
- Score and Level Persistence: Current score and high-score are displayed on an I2C OLED or 20x4 LCD. The difficulty (number of enemies) increases automatically every 500 points.
Interactive Cues
- Piezo Sound Effects: Uses the
tone() function to play iconic sounds: the "Swoosh" of a flying ship and the "Explosion" when a target is hit, enhancing the 8-bit gaming experience.
